Our Artist Innovation Series Tamburello is based on a traditional Sicilian tambourine’s size and jingle pattern, but its unique design features facilitate the exploration of varied playing techniques.  This drum reflects the inspired performance style and influential teaching of Andrea Piccioni - a master of modern adaptations of Turkish, Persian, and Indian playing styles and traditions. The combination of resonant drum head, mid-sized diameter, controlled balance, and articulate jingles, allows players to embrace traditional Italian style triplets, quadruplets, and finger rolls,  as well as powerfully driven doum/tak Arabic rhythms, and Indian kanjira-like pitch blending.  We’ve paired a head that is warm but not muddy, with hand-hammered, dry jingles to create a drum that emphasizes the robust dynamic of the traditional tamburello on top of a defined jingle voice. Garrahand

  The Garrahand comes to fulfill a very special hole in the life of a percussionist, because it id a percussion instrument that can be played with the hands, but it is melodic as well. It takes the space of a small drum, a very small space inside a percussionist set, and it provides 7 notes of unique, chanting sound. It can be played just by hands without the use of any special stick (although it can be also played with muffed sticks because it is made with an extra resistant steel).
