Three internationally acclaimed percussionists have met to found the percussion ensemble Tamburo Mundi: Andrea Piccioni (Italy), Gilson de Assis (Brazil) and Murat Coskun (Turkey).
The music of this worldwide unique combination has its common root in the frame drum, an essential ingredience of the Italian, Brazilian and Turkish musical tradition.
One feels the overwhelming joy of playing and almost unlimited pleasure of discovery when these musicians beat the drum, dance and sing, together creating a completely new musical synthesis: As if it were most natural, Italian songs, Roma dances of the Balkans and oriental trance rhythms merge easily into funky hip-hop grooves and the tarantella is danced to Brazilian samba tunes.
During his international career the trio collaborated with some of the "top frame drummers" of the world like Glen Velez, Rhani Krija, Ramesh Shotam, Michael Metzler, Marcos Susano...
